Getting there
Traveling by plane
Rio de Janeiro has two airports: Rio de Janeiro/Galeão International Airport (GIG) and Santos Dumont Airport (SDU). GIG is served by both domestic and international airlines including Air Canada, American Airlines, Copa Airlines, Delta, and United. SDU is located on Guanabara Bay and is served primarily by domestic airlines including Azul, GOL, and LATAM.
Entry, Exit, and Visa Requirements for Americans traveling to Brazil
Effective midnight on April 10, 2025, a visa will be required for U.S. citizens to travel to Brazil, regardless of the purpose of travel. To obtain your e-visa, visit the Brazilian government-authorized website https://brazil.vfsevisa.com. The cost is $80.90 per person. For more information on international travel to Brazil, visit Travel.State.Gov.
You will need:
A valid U.S. passport.
A valid Brazilian visa or e-visa, beginning April 10, 2025 for tourists and currently for all other types of travel.

Traveling by car
We have found Uber to be a reliable and safe way to get around Rio. The day of our wedding, shuttles for our guests will be arranged between Copacabana and our venue in Santa Teresa. Details are forthcoming.
